I'm a junior doctor applying to train as a Psychiatrist!
I was President of the Headucate UEA society, Headucate's founding society, for 3 years, and was part of Headucate at uni for 5 years. It has been heart-warming to see the society grow, from strength to strength, expanding to create new branches, and now working alongside likeminded mental health societies nationwide.
Mental Health awareness has been a topic on everyone's lips for a fair amount of time now, and Headucate is now at the forefront of student-led advocacy, and I couldn't be more excited to begin this new Headucate UK chapter alongside my fellow passionate Headucators!
Mental Health awareness, prevention & education is important to me, because after experiencing first-hand the difficulties of acknowledging, understanding and seeking help, I believe I can try to support others in the same journey. We all have mental health, just as we all have physical health... the statistic is that 1 in 4 may experience mental ill-health in their lifetime, however we are all affected by mental health, in some way, shape or form... we all think, feel, analyse, process, and all do it differently. We're all human.
Let's fight mental health stigma together, be kind to those around you, and look out for those you're close to!
