Who We Are
Headucate is a national charity, established in 2021, that aims to support university students passionate about mental health awareness, outreach & advocacy.

The ‘Headucate idea’ was first coined in 2012 at the Headucate: University of East Anglia society. It was one of the first existing mental health awareness societies in the UK. Headucate’s overriding aim is to tackle mental health stigma & help end discrimination, by challenge common misconceptions about mental health issues.
Headucate university societies reach these goals by delivering mental health literacy workshops in schools. They do this as currently there is no mental health teaching in schools, and it is thought that about 50% of lifelong mental illnesses are already established by age 14. Most children do not seek the help they need when they need it.
Over the past decade, new Headucate, and mental health society branches have developed, including Headucate UEA, Headucate Birmingham, Headucate UCL, and more recently, Headucate Nottingham.
Headucate UK is an inter-uni society initiative, with a growing network across the whole of the UK endeavouring to inspire, support & connect around 15 student-led groups nationwide.
